Terms of Use
Last updated: August 29, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MedBit mobile application (“MedBit,” “the App,” “we,” “us”). By creating a vault, downloading, or otherwise using MedBit, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Not a substitute for medical advice
MedBit is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider with questions about a medical condition, medication, or treatment. Never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of something you stored in or read from the App.
2. Your account and recovery phrase
When you create a vault, MedBit generates a 12-word recovery phrase. This phrase is the only way to unlock your vault or restore it on a new device, and it is never transmitted to or stored by MedBit in any form.
If you lose your recovery phrase, MedBit cannot help you recover your data. There is no “forgot password” option for vault content — this is a deliberate consequence of the App’s end-to-end encryption. You are solely responsible for keeping your recovery phrase safe.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
MedBit offers optional paid features, purchased entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play (“the Store”). All billing, refunds, and payment information are handled by the Store, not by MedBit.
- Health Calendar is a one-time purchase. Once unlocked, it remains unlocked on that account.
- Encrypted Cloud Backup and Caregiver Check-In Alerts are auto-renewing annual subscriptions. They renew automatically at the then-current price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Manage or cancel any subscription in your device’s Store account settings — MedBit cannot cancel or refund a subscription on your behalf.
If a subscription lapses or is refunded, access to the corresponding feature is revoked; a one-time purchase is not affected by subscription status.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the App’s encryption or security mechanisms, except as permitted by applicable law.
- Use the App to store or transmit content you do not have the right to store, or that is unlawful, harmful, or infringing.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App, its optional backend services, or other users’ use of them.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MedBit and its developers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data (including loss of vault content due to a lost recovery phrase), arising out of or related to your use of the App.
7. Account deletion and termination
You may delete your account and local vault at any time from Profile → Account. If you have enabled Encrypted Cloud Backup, deleting your account also deletes your backups from our servers. We may suspend or terminate access to any optional backend services (backup, caregiver alerts) for violation of these Terms.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [governing state/country to be specified], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
